THE ORIGIN OF THE WORLD

In these two artworks, I draw inspiration from Courbet's The Origin of the World, exploring the intrinsic connection between femininity and the earth. The female form emerges as a vibrant symbol of both harmony and chaos, mirroring the cycles of nature that resonate through our existence. In stark contrast, the male figures and industrial elements in the background reflect a relentless drive to control and reshape the environment, embodying a patriarchal impulse that seeks to impose order.

The presence of communist soldiers and industrial symbols serves as a pointed commentary on how top-down political ideologies attempt to dominate the wildness of nature. This juxtaposition reveals a profound disconnection from the natural world, sharply contrasted by the resilient female body, which stands firm in a frozen landscape. Here, she embodies continuity and strength amid societal upheaval, reminding us of our enduring ties to nature even in times of chaos. Through this work, I invite viewers to confront the tensions between power and organic life, urging a deeper reflection on our relationship with the world around us.
